Last month, Michael Malarkey attended "The Vampire Diaries," official convention hosted by Creation Entertainment in New Jersey! Michael sat down with Caleb to talk a little about his past, the present and where he would like to be in the future in his career. During the 16 minute interview, Michael confesses he didn't always want to be an actor. He didn't care for school and he barely graduated. He found himself drawn to music. Imagine a younger version of Michael Malarkey with long hair, head banging and screaming! He still keeps in contact with some of his old band mates to this day.
At one point in the interview he asked, "Am I that popular?" LOL.. I love that he's so humble and is so genuine. He had no idea what he was getting himself into when he started Twitter but the love and support he gets on a daily basis is awesome!
He would LOVE to be in NY performing in the theater, but feels it's time for him to be on the big screen! As long as he is doing what makes him happy, he doesn't care about how little or how much he gets paid. That brought a huge smile to my face when he said that. He loves what he does because it makes him happy.
I think the best part of this interview was his 2 pieces of advice to people looking to start a career in acting.
1. Have a backup plan- it can take months/ years to get something going and expensive so always have a back up plan while pursuing acting.2. Be yourself! Be true to who you are, don't try to be something you're not. Be real! Believe in yourself and the rejections that happen throughout your career/life, won't phase you!
He admits "bad boy" Enzo will be back FULL TIME in Season 6, which premiers Thursday
